OBC's
7 Core Standards
Back
These standards reflect our beliefs and aspirations, and not
necessarily our achievements. They are guidelines by which we
measure ourselves.
Phil. 3:12-14
At OBC we seek to Glorify God by maintaining the following standards:
1
Dependence on God
We believe that God is sovereign and in control of everything.
We depend on Him to accomplish His work through our efforts and
to supply for the needs of the ministry. In all our work and in
every situation we are reminded that apart from Him we can do
nothing. John 15:5,7
2
Pursuit of Excellence
Excellence is doing oneÕs best with what one has, seeking
to constantly
improve. We believe that excellence honors God and inspires others
who serve Him. It is our aim to perform every act of service as
unto the Lord no matter how seemingly insignificant or unseen
by others. Col. 3:17
3
Centrality of Evangelism
Lost people matter to God, and camp ministry is an effective way
to bring
unbelievers into significant contact with the gospel of Jesus
Christ. We therefore believe it is important to sustain a continual
emphasis on evangelism.
Luke 15:7; 19:10, John 3:16
4
Service Orientation
We believe that we are here to serve our guests and campers. This
means that in our programming we seek to meet camper expectations
and earn the right to be heard. It means that guests and campers
are treated as more important than facilities, finances, or staff
convenience. Mark 10:43-45
5
Family Staff Relationships
We believe that godly staff interpersonal relationships are essential
to the work of the ministry. We therefore will strive to maintain
caring, supportive and harmonious relationships with each other
as we serve the Lord together. Col. 3:12
6
Spirit of Sharing
We believe that everything we have has been received as a gift
from God and that we are blessed in order to become a blessing.
We will therefore willingly share our ideas and resources with
others in camping ministry and in the church.2 Cor. 8:13-14; 9:6-15
7
Commitment to Safety
We are committed to do all we can to ensure that campers and guests
enjoy an environment free from harm or danger. This applies to
their spiritual and emotional as well as their physical well being.
