The Ministry Objectives of Okutama Bible Chalet (OBC) are as follows:
1. To glorify God
As a Christian ministry, OBC's primary objective is to bring honor
to God. We strive to do this through sincere obedience to His
word and will, and through a pursuit of excellence in every aspect
of the OBC program, operation, and public testimony.
2. To serve the church
OBC exists to serve the church, and to help establish the church
where it does not yet exist. Therefore camp programs will
be designed to meet the needs of the church and to aid the church
in fulfilling our Lord's great commission.
OBC will attempt to introduce campers and participants to a local
church, and encourage them to be faithful in church attendance.
OBC will provide facilities for local churches and other evangelical
Christian groups to use for their own camps, conferences, and
other activities.
3. To evangelize the lost.
Through its programs OBC will present to campers and participants
a clear and accurate presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ,
helping them as much as possible to understand its meaning and
ramifications with the intent of leading them to trust in Jesus
Christ for salvation.
While campers will be encouraged to trust in Jesus Christ, OBC
will not coerce, or pressure people to make decisions against
their will.
4. To train and nurture believers
OBC will present the truth of God's word to the needs of campers
and participants with a clear explanation of its meaning and application
for daily life. This may be done through preaching, teaching,
or personal counseling.
OBC will provide campers and participants with mature, growing
Christian leaders who will endeavor to model the Christian life
and build personal relationships in order to meet their needs
in a context of loving counsel and encouragement.
OBC will operate both on-site and wilderness camping programs
in order to stimulate spiritual growth, leadership development,
and service for Christ in the church and community.
OBC will present Christ's great commission to the campers, helping
them to develop a spiritual concern that is world-wide in scope.
5.To promote Christian fellowship
OBC will provide opportunities for non-Christians to live together
with Christian believers in order to help them understand the
message of the Bible.
OBC will provide opportunities for Christian guests and campers
to experience fellowship with believers from a number of churches
for their edification, encouragement, and to help them feel a
part of the body of Christ world-wide.
6. To promote wholesome friendships
OBC will encourage campers and participants to form wholesome
friendships, and will help them experience companionship through
a variety of shared, enjoyable experiences.
OBC will provide campers and participants opportunities to experience
God's love through meaningful relationships with other Christian
campers and with carefully selected, trained Christian staff.
7. To provide a wholesome, safe, enjoyable environment
OBC will provide guests and campers with an environment that will
enhance their development as a whole person, and which will aid
their physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.
OBC will avoid activities that, while helpful in one aspect, can
be harmful in another.
OBC will provide opportunities and facilities for guests and campers
to experience safe, wholesome fun with a variety of enjoyable
activities and program options.
OBC will maintain its facilities as much as possible in way that
enables guests and campers to experience the beauty and wonder
of God's creation, providing a setting that is fitting for them
to meet with God.
